German thoroughbred - Niesmann+Bischoff motorhomes are built to the highest order.
I’ve been looking at “ultimate” motorhomes.
Not to buy for myself, unfortunately. No, I’ve been researching the absolute dream machine end of the leisure vehicle market on behalf of the magazine, Which Motorhome.
It’s producing an Ultimate Motorhomes supplement in April and, even if you’re never going to buy such a thing, it’s fascinating to be able to see just what there is out there.

The Elddis Aspire 265 motorhome launched for the ExCel show was a favourite of mine.
I attended three days of the Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show from opening to the Thursday and to say it was easy to park was an understatement. I drove through from Welwyn Gardens, an 82 mile round trip. Relatively straight forward but traffic was heavy as the show closed around 6pm. (A M25 closure caused us a 2.5 hour journey on the Wednesday!)
Overall I think the event lacked the buzz of the NEC - but the good layout and selection of caravan and motorhome offerings made for an interesting show.

London ExCel was the venue for the February 2012 - Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show.
The lack of a February NEC Caravan Show this year has, I am sure, had an effect on those buyers who traditionally bought their new touring caravan, motorhome or caravan holiday home at the 50+ year show. Well established, the February show had good attendances over the years.
London ExCel, the new venue for the Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show worked well as a venue, but the location was not ideal. This was proved with a low foot fall, though no official figures have been released yet. New ranges, and additional caravan models did give visitors plenty to look at though.
Here are some of the stars of the ExCel show.
