Calm before the storm at Birmingham's NEC, which proved a big success last week.
I hope you enjoyed my blogs from the Motorhome and Caravan Show at Birmingham’s NEC last week, with plenty of news on the very latest caravans and motorhomes. The show itself can be counted as a success, with record numbers of folk visiting and manufacturers almost unanimous in pointing to sales that were “above expectations”.
The only disappointment was hearing that the dealer group Discover Leisure had finally faltered and fallen into the hands of administrators during the course of the show itself.

Best looking touring caravan at the NEC show? Well the Hobby Premium definitely looked the business.
Well, what a success last week’s Motorhome and Caravan Show proved to be. Birmingham’s NEC hosted the event, the annual showcase for what’s new from the main caravan and motorhome manufacturers as well as accessories suppliers.
Key was the exceptionally good attendance, thanks in no small part to ticket prices that were, let’s say, a bit more “realistic” than in recent years for this event. But, that was what contributed to a highly positive vibe to the whole event. Sales held up well, too, especially taking into consideration the economic conditions generally.

Holtkamper's Kyte trailer tent has a futuristic swooping style.
Sorry to sound a bit Big Brother, but welcome to day four of my blogs from the UK’s largest exhibition of its kind, the Motorhome and Caravan Show – although the “household” here is Birmingham’s massive National Exhibition Centre (and I do get to go home every night).
So far, I’ve whisked through the new caravans, helped judge the best of the new motorhomes, and reported back on other key items of news.
This time, I thought I’d give you a bit of a round-up of the type of news I typically pick up at an event like this.

Birmingham is buzzing - it's been pretty busy at the Motorhome and Caravan Show.
Welcome to my fourth blog from this week’s Motorhome and Caravan Show at Birmingham’s NEC. If you haven’t booked, you can still just turn up on the door at what is proving to be a very popular event indeed.
Whereas on Tuesday I immersed myself in some of the newest arrivals in the caravan market, this time around my focus is very much on motorhomes.
And what a place this is if you want to see the hundreds of new Motorhome makes and models from the very best, altogether under one roof. It’s worth coming, even if you’re “just browsing”.
