David Hainsworth, from Skoda dealership David Ian, hands over my new towcar.
Just recently I decided that I wanted a different tow car. The Skoda Octavia VRS had proved good for this job with its 170 bhp TDI engine. However, I had the chance to change to a heavier car.
So after looking around and test drives, I came back to Skoda! I plumbed for the Skoda Superb SE plus hatch – though ordered it with the 140 TDi engine after an impressive test of one some time ago.

No more tears - Steffan George heads up the Sold Secure organisation.
Steffan George was left in tears when he watched his parents’ caravan being towed away. That was because they’d sold it – and he was only three years old at the time.
Today, he’s more concerned with saving the tears of others, including those who would rather not be the victims of caravan or motorhome theft.

Solar power and more? There's always room for some smart thinking.
Welcome to the festive season. With Christmas just about on us, and then party, party, party until the New Year (for some, at least), I thought it an opportune time for even me to lighten up a little and share some thoughts with you. So, please bear with me while I expound on some of my Big Ideas for leisure vehicles, be they caravans or motorhomes.
My campervan, like lots of motorcaravans, has stick-on insulation panels rather than curtains for cab windows. Apart from a tendency to come unstuck sometimes, they work very well. They’re effective at night as well as during the day, when they prevent too much heat build-up inside. Wouldn’t it be great if such screens could, in future, also incorporate the latest solar power technology?
