Great for browsing - that's the National Motorhome Show at Peterborough this weekend.
For anyone with an inkling, hankering or even just a passing interest in all things motorhomes, there’s only one place to be this coming weekend. For the 22nd year running, it’s the National Motorhome Show at the East of England Showground, Peterborough.
There are plenty of other outdoor motorhomes shows taking place throughout the year but, believe me, this one is “the daddy”. I’ve been to a few of these over the years. I’ve missed a fair few, too. This time around I’m keen to get there on the Sunday.

London ExCel was the venue for the February 2012 - Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show.
The lack of a February NEC Caravan Show this year has, I am sure, had an effect on those buyers who traditionally bought their new touring caravan, motorhome or caravan holiday home at the 50+ year show. Well established, the February show had good attendances over the years.
London ExCel, the new venue for the Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show worked well as a venue, but the location was not ideal. This was proved with a low foot fall, though no official figures have been released yet. New ranges, and additional caravan models did give visitors plenty to look at though.
Here are some of the stars of the ExCel show.

The SECC in Glasgow was the Scottish Caravan Show venue. Good access and car parking.
Well I have finally come back to earth after what’s seemed to have been an intense two weeks of walking around shows!
So what’s been happening? Well just a fortnight after the success of the Manchester Show at its new event, would Scotland’s Caravan & Outdoor Leisure Show at the SECC in Glasgow prove a success?
Well I have to admit I have a soft spot for the Scottish Show, because it packs so much in! Boats, holiday homes, tourers, motorhomes and park homes it’s all there – well laid out on display. So what was new at Glasgow?

The new NCC Events: Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show at London's ExCel.
I made it down to the Motorhome, Caravan and Camping Show at London’s ExCeL venue… only to find a real mixed bag. But, it was certainly a great opportunity to explode some myths in this caravan blog.
Myth One. ExCeL is a nightmare to reach if you drive.
Simply not true. Even with roadworks on my approach down the M1, my sat nav glided me in perfectly, coming round the North Circular ring road and straight into the Docklands home of ExCeL. Of course, I avoided rush hour, but returning to my Midlands home having left the show at 6pm on Friday was a doddle, with not a single hold-up. Lucky me?
