Swift Caravans Under Wraps

2012 Swift caravans still under wraps for public consumption

It’s been a busy few weeks. Touring caravan manufacturers are launching their new caravan models ready for public consumption – although we are still looking at embargos into early August! After Elddis, I travelled over to the Swift Group. New and exciting changes are all about for next season. My understanding is the embargo is till early next month but don’t expect more Swift Charismas, or worst still the Sterling Europa range (the latter being a name known for doing slightly daring interiors etc than the rest of the caravan brands in the market place). However, without giving too much away the new replacement caravan models are pretty exciting. I reckon they are going to woo buyers in the mid priced touring caravan market. The new models launched last year have had minor tweaks and some new layouts introduced.

A wet outdoor Caravan Show

The wet weather didn't dampen spirits at Scottish Caravan and Camping Show.

Its nearly time when touring caravan manufacturers begin to show us what 2012 models of caravan we can expect to see – very exciting.  I recently attended a new summer outdoor show, the Scottish Caravan and Camping Show at the Thainstone Centre in Inverurie, Aberdeenshire. The event was well supported by both local caravan dealerships and several accessory suppliers. Beginning on the Friday afternoon, the outdoor show got off to a great start, with several new touring caravans and motorhomes being sold within the first few hours.

Low Park Wood Caravan Club site

My caravan pitch at Low Park Wood Caravan Club site

I have just been away in my tourer in the lakes and it was good to see the Caravan Club site – Low Park Wood where I was staying very busy with caravans and motorhomes. The park is one of my all time favourites with wood land settings and river side settings. The park was orginally a gun powder works up till 1935. The National Trust took it over and in the early 70′s created a caravan site for tourers.

More news from the front lines!

Touring caravan insurance customers may be interested to hear how Sally Gunnell’s plan to build a motorhome park in Essex has been met with anger.
